Community Participation

Involvement of community members including women, youth and the poor is of critical importance for the project. It is mandatory that community is actively involved in the entire process; from planning to implementation of projects. Problem of drinking water supply is diverse and complex in nature, which demands varied engineering, institutional and operation & maintenance solutions.

Further, socio-cultural dimensions of each community need careful study of the milieu need assessment, gender analysis and power relationship mapping within the community for sustainable community ownership and control.

Punjab Saaf Pani Company believes that no intervention can be successful on a sustainable basis unless local community participates and owns scheme or project. Community refers to the ongoing process of building ownership of and partnership with the community by project implementing agency with the aim to improving decision-making and community control during planning, designing, implementation, handover, operation & maintenance and evaluation phases of project.

PSPC – South has engaged experienced civil society organizations through a transparent process for community mobilization in project areas. Currently, PSPC’s Community Mobilization and Engagement Partners are implementing community engagement strategy and forming Saaf Pani Committees in Bahawalpur, Dear Ghazi Khan and Faisalabad Regions.
