What We Do

Unlike the standard approach in executing development projects, Punjab Saaf Pani Company- South has adopted an elaborate exercise of Evidence Based Need Assessment to ensure sustainability of water supply schemes in the province.

The assessment was conducted by a Technical Working Group with technical assistance and support of various national and international agencies. The group consisted of UNICEF, WHO, World Bank Proactive Governance Program, Punjab Information Technology Board, Urban Unit, a team of researchers from Lahore University of Management Sciences, Departments of Public Health Engineering, Health Department, Local Government & Community Development, etc.

Based on this exercise, a priority area mapping with multiple indexes of water quality, water-borne diseases, rural water supply coverage and poverty was developed.

Simultaneously, PSPC-South has prepared a Master Plan for sustainable supply of safe drinking water solutions for rural population of the province in a comprehensive and integrated manner. This brings PSPC-South to the challenge of institutional redesigning of the entire water supply sector.

After a comprehensive planning process, PSPC-South as a pilot project has installed 116 state-of-the-art water filtration plants in five tehsils of Khanpur, Hasilpur, Dunyapur, Lodhran and Minchanabad in Bahawalpur Region where more than 350,000 locals are availing of safe drinking water supply on a sustainable basis.
